Formado por Paul Humphreys e Andy McCluskey, o projecto britânico Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) nasce no final dos anos 70 em Liverpool. Paul e Andy começaram por tocar juntos ainda nos seus tempos de escola, em bandas como VCL XI, Hitlerz, Underpantz ou The Id. Após o desmembramento desta última em 1978, Andy McCluskey passa ainda pelos Dalek I Love You, até decidir, juntamente com Paul Humphreys e Paul Collister, formar os OMD. O seu primeiro single é "Electricity", uma canção bem ao estilo das futuras composições da banda, fortemente influenciada pela pop e pelo som dos sintetizadores, e que é bastante bem sucedida, valendo-lhes mesmo um contrato discográfico com a DinDisc (uma subsidiária da Virgin). Pouco depois ingressam no grupo o baterista Dave Hughes. Em 1980 os OMD editam o seu álbum de estreia homónimo, seguido, no mesmo ano, por "Organisation", que incluía o hit-single "Enola Gay". Pouco depois Hughes deixa a banda e para o seu lugar entra Martin Cooper. Os trabalhos seguintes da banda, "Architecture and Morality" de 1981, "Dazzle Ships" de 1983 e "Junk Culture" de 1984, revelam uns OMD mais experimentais, explorando diferentes sonoridades. Em 1985 surge "Crush", um disco gravado com dois novos membros, os irmãos Graham e Neil Weir. Este é o seu trabalho mais pop, atingindo maior sucesso nos EUA do que na sua terra natal, muito à custa do single "So In Love", que chega aos 26º posto das tabelas norte-americanas. No mesmo ano os OMD editam "The Pacific Age", um novo sucesso em terras do «Tio Sam». Pouco depois da edição do disco, os irmãos Weir deixam o grupo, seguidos, não muito tempo depois, por Malcolm Holmes, Martin Cooper e Paul Humphreys. No entanto, Andy McCluskey não deixa o grupo cair, editando em 1991 o álbum "Sugar Tax". Ao mesmo tempo, Humphreys forma um novo projecto intitulado Listening Pool. "Sugar Tax", não tem, no entanto, a mesma receptividade dos anteriores trabalhos dos OMD, que entretanto regressam em 1993 com "Liberator", que se revela também novo fracasso comercial. Três anos depois os OMD estão de volta com "Universal".

Supertramp é uma banda britânica de rock progressivo que obteve grande sucesso nos anos 70 e início dos anos 80.
Patrocinado pelo milionário holandês Stanley August Miesegaes, o vocalista, pianista e ex-baterista Rick Davies pôs um anúncio no jornal Melody Maker em busca de integrantes para a formação do grupo, em agosto de 1969. Rick Davies então juntou-se aos músicos Roger Hodgson (vocal, guitarra e teclados), Richard Palmer (guitarra, balalaika e vocais) e Robert Millar (percussão e harmônica). A banda inicialmente chamava-se Daddy, tendo o nome posteriormente alterado para Supertramp, que ao pé da letra quer dizer "super mendigo", inspirado num livro de W.H. Davies, “The Autobiography of a Super-Tramp”.
O recém-batizado Supertramp foi um dos primeiros grupos de rock a assinar com A&M Records inglesa, e o primeiro álbum foi lançado em julho de 1970. Apesar das boas críticas, foi um fracasso comercial – tanto que só saiu oficialmente nos Estados Unidos em 1977. Richard Palmer, desgostoso, resolveu sair seis meses depois do lançamento do primeiro LP, e Robert Millar teve uma crise nervosa logo em seguida. Foram substituídos por Frank Farrell (baixo), Kevin Currie (bateria) e Dave Winthrop (flauta e saxofone).
O álbum com esta formação, Indelibly Stamped, enfim trazia as marcas registradas da banda: as harmonias vocais entre Davies e Hodgson, e solos de saxofone. Mas também foi um fracasso de vendas, o que fez com que Miesegaes retirasse o patrocínio. Novamente o grupo debandou, restando apenas Hodgson e Davies.
No final de 1972, convocaram o baixista Dougie Thomson, o baterista Bob Siebenberg (que era um americano vivendo ilegalmente na Inglaterra, daí seu pseudônimo “Bob C. Benberg”) e o homem que deu o toque final ao som do grupo, John Helliwell (saxofone e sopros em geral, vocais). Essa formação lançou Crime of The Century em 1974 e finalmente fez sucesso com “Dreamer”, “School”, “Bloody Well Right”, entre outros hits. O disco seguinte, Crisis? What Crisis?, de 1975, não foi tão bem nas vendas, mas Even in the Quietest Moments, de 1977, recolocou o Supertramp no topo das paradas musicais com “Give a Little Bit” e “Fool's Overture”. Breakfast in America, de 1979, trouxe mais sucessos ("The Logical Song", "Take the Long Way Home", "Goodbye Stranger", "Breakfast in America") e vendeu 18 milhões de cópias.
O ano de 1982 não foi bom para o grupo. Após tantos anos de sucesso, Roger Hodgson resolveu abandonar a banda após a turnê de ...Famous Last Words.... Existem várias especulações sobre sua saída, e nenhuma delas convenceu na época. Alguns diziam que Hodgson se sentia musicalmente limitado (o que não se sustenta, já que seus discos solo são bem parecidos com o material habitual do Supertramp); até que, em uma entrevista, Hodgson revelou que deixou a banda porque sua esposa na época não se dava bem com a esposa de Rick Davies.
Davies resolveu manter o Supertramp na ativa com o álbum Brother Where You Bound, iniciado pelo single "Cannonball" – uma música de 16 minutos (a versão que toca nas rádios é editada) com participação especial de David Gilmour, do Pink Floyd. Porém, uma das condições para o grupo manter o nome Supertramp era a de não tocar ao vivo as músicas compostas por Hodgson. A despeito disso, Davis continuou executando os hits de Hodgson nos concertos (quem fazia a segunda voz, nessas músicas, era Mark Hart do Crowded House). Em 1993, Davies tentou trazer Hodgson de volta para a banda, sem sucesso.
Em 1997, Davies reformou o Supertramp com Helliwell, Siebenberg e Hart, mais alguns músicos de estúdio. Essa formação seguiu gravando até 2002, com o álbum Slow Motion. Desde então o grupo está inativo, a despeito de uma nova e igualmente fracassada tentativa de voltar à ativa com Hodgson em 2005. O último lançamento oficial do Supertramp foi a coletânea dupla Retrospectable – The Supertramp Anthology, com 32 faixas remasterizadas e dispostas em ordem cronológica de 1970 a 2002.

Kiss (ou KISS) é uma banda de Hard Rock/Heavy Metal dos Estados Unidos da América, formada em Nova York em 1973. Conhecida mundialmente por suas maquiagens, e por seus concertos muito elaborados e até exagerados que incluem guitarras esfumaçantes, cuspir fogo e sangue, pirotecnias e muito mais. As vendas da banda excedem os 100 milhões no mundo inteiro.
Constitui um dos maiores impactos culturais da década de 1970, valendo-se de roupas, e sobretudo, maquiagens nunca antes vistos, e que marcariam a história da música. Seus dois fundadores são Gene Simmons (Baixo e Vocal) e Paul Stanley (Guitarra Rítmica e Vocal), que ficaram frustrados com o fim de uma banda que formaram, chamada Wicked Lester, assim, decidindo procurar novos integrantes para uma nova banda, encontraram tais integrantes através de anúncio de jornal, Ace Frehley (Guitarra Solo e Vocal) e, pela revista Rolling Stone, Peter Criss (Bateria e Vocal).
