The Cure - The Walk - 1983

Os The Cure são uma banda de rock Inglesa formada em 1976 que surge inserida no contexto do Post-Punk e New Wave. São uma banda difícil de categorizar devido ao seu som bastante peculiar, que durante o seu percurso extremamente original esteve na origem de várias correntes musicais, tais como Darkwave, Coldwave, Gothic Rock, Rock Alternativo.
Aclamados nos fins dos anos 80 e princípios dos anos 90, passaram a ser negligenciados pela imprensa na segunda metade desta década. O novo século finalmente deu-lhes o reconhecimento devido, quando se aperceberam que os The Cure se tornaram num dos grupos mais influentes do rock alternativo, sendo referidos por variadas bandas como uma das suas principais influências.
Com canções como "In Between Days", "The Lovecats", "Close To Me", "Lovesong", "Friday I'm in Love", "Just Like Heaven", "Lullaby" ou "Boys Don't Cry", os The Cure tinham vendido, em 2004, mais de 30 milhões de cópias, facto que os tornam numa das bandas alternativas de maior sucesso da história.
Robert Smith é o líder desta banda desde o seu início e único elemento constante desde a sua formação.
