The Mamas & The Papas - California Dreamin - 1965

The Mamas & The Papas foi um grupo vocal formado em Los Angeles, Estados Unidos, nos anos 1960, por John Phillips (responsável pelas composições do grupo), Michelle Phillips, 'Mama' Cass Elliot e Denny Doherty. Seu primeiro e maior sucesso foi "California Dreamin'", até hoje sua canção mais conhecida.
O The Mamas & The Papas foi uma das únicas bandas norte-americanas a conseguir manter o sucesso e rivalizar com a Invasão Britânica. O grupo gravou e se apresentou de 1965 a 1968, lançando cinco álbuns e emplacando dez sucessos entre os compactos mais vendidos.
O sucesso do grupo se deve as belas harmonizações vocais, acompanhamento de excelentes músicos de estúdio em seus discos e a imagem de "hippies inofensivos" no tempo do "paz e amor".
